Reader's Passport Bowker

For Libraries – How to Participate

Library Steps:

  1. Print enough copies of the Reader’s Passport that all branches have them readily available for patrons
  2. Create a Reader’s Passport Display – a simple plastic counter display with standing frame will work well.
  3. Behind the check-out counter, have small stamps ready to use on patrons’ Reader’s Passports
  4. Have a box where completed Reader’s Passports can be conveniently collected
  5. At conclusion of Reader’s Passport cycle (to be determined by your Director), staff matches booktype requests in completed Passports with available titles provided by Reader’s Passport staff.
  6. Book requests are forwarded directly to publishers via e-mail.

Library Benefits:

  • Fun for patrons – receiving stamps in a “passport” is fun and rewards reading
  • Encourages foot traffic into your library branches
  • Promotes adult literacy in your community
  • Causes your library patrons to be generous to others less fortunate
  • Creates synergy with non-profits in your community
  • Makes your library the source of generosity
