How the Reader’s Passport Works
What the Reader Does:
- Readers borrow library books as usual
- When returning their books, they pick up a free Reader’s
Passport at the Library, rate the books they’re returning
and receive a Stamp in their Reader’s Passport
- When six Stamps are received, the reader fills in his/her name
& address
- The reader also chooses from a list of non-profit organizations
and agencies provided in the Reader’s Passport, and fills
in that organizations name & address
- Next the reader looks through the provided list of book categories,
choosing one for themselves and one for the non-profit
- The reader drops their completed Reader’s Passport in
the provided drop-off box at the Library
What Happens Next:
- Library staff sorts the Reader’s Passports and forwards
them to participating publishers
- Publishers send 1 free book each to the reader and to the non-profit
- Publishers include their own promotional materials
- Publishers also include a fresh Reader’s Passport in the
donated books, so the next reader can begin their own participation
